Necromaniac:

Hey Karl, you old bandit, hope the tour with REPENT hasn’t caused the rest of your whiskers to fall out and everything went smoothly?! Too bad there wasn’t that much promotion for this little tour, did you organize it by yourselves?

Kaamos:

Hello there. The tour with REPENT was excellent and everything went just fine. The REPENT guys were really laid back and down to earth. The tour was organized by Metal Kommand, with Stephen Kur, who also plays bass in REPENT, in charge. He is truly an amazing guy, really dedicated.

Necromaniac:

How many gigs did you play during this tour, I read something about five or six?

Kaamos:

The tour lasted for four gigs, two in Germany, one in Holland and one in Belgium.

Necromaniac:

My very own gossip sources told me that personally your favorite show was the one in Weimar. Mostly all of the club people there are bikers. What is it that fascinates you so much within the biker scence? Is it the smell of motor oil or is it the fact that lots of bikers have a beard and drink a lot, just like you do? Do you ride a motorcycle?

Kaamos:

Yeah Weimar was great, I really like the Dark Hall and Dark Force MC. Fascinated? I don’t know if that’s the word that I would use but most of the time I get along really good with bikers. Perhaps the beards and motor-oil does the trick, I don’t know...I do not have a bike, but I hope that will resolve in time.

Necromaniac:

Well buddy, now that you’re back in your filthy apartment scratching the mites from your beard, we might as well work ourselves through the present situation with KAAMOS. What’s going on and what’s coming next?

Kaamos:

What the fuck? Filthy apartment? I have a house, damn it. We have just released our second album and we’re trying to get out there and play some gigs. Right now we are booked for Party San this summer and we will play in Holland in a few weeks. Some other gigs are planned but not confirmed.

Necromaniac:

Konstantin (guitar) was nice enough to send me your new CD entitled “Lucifer Rising”. Are you in the mood to talk about it a little or would you rather talk about the Wehrmacht again?

Kaamos:

Alright, since this is a music ´zine I guess that I have to talk about the album...Well, it’s 10 songs of cruel Death Metal a la Kaamos it is in the same vein as the first album but more refined and focused.

Necromaniac:

Okay, it’s up to you, so let’s talk about the Wehrmacht! Did you know that the Tiger used to be equipped with a Swedish Saab Diesel engine during its first construction phase. But due to the bad supply of elk diesel in 1943 the production was pretty soon stopped. When you’re back in Germany I’ll take you to the tank museum in Munster, there are some original 8/8 mm and you can also see a Tiger with Porsche tower, as well as an Elephant or also the Puma Scout Car with African baffle paint. You’ll have to pay the admission though! They also have this gay Swedish armored car with 0.001 mm plating, no wonder Sweden was “uncommitted” (haha).

Kaamos:

Yeah, I heard something about the Saab-engine but was it ever used in production? I think Porsche and Henschel competed about the construction of the turrets for the King Tiger, right? I just recently read that a Tiger II on the eastern front survived 227 anti-tank rifle hits, 14 52mm shell hits and 11 7.62mm anti-tank guns hits - none of which penetrated the Tiger’s 180mm armour, That’s a Death Metal tank if you ask me. Sure I´ll go to the tank-museum with you, sounds like my kind of place for recreation indeed. I’ll just ignore that last thing you said about Sweden and no one gets hurt. Physically that is.

Necromaniac:

Well honestly, “Lucifer Rising” is what I can finally call a real Swedish Death Metal album again, after Sweden’s former figureheads UNLEASHED, GRAVE and DISMEMBER have delivered a bunch of bullshit with their last albums. Your solos sound terrificly shitty just like Mille’s did in ancient KREATOR days (Mille’s solos still suck), the production gives you the feeling you’re listening to old GRAVE records and aside from a pinch of old US stuff such as SLAYER, SADISTIC INTENT, MORBID ANGEL and whatever influencing you, I could also mention MORPHEUS DESCENDS, just to show off with my knowledge a little ;-). Well, to put it short, Westphal likes this record and not many Swedish bands have achieved that in the past couple of years. You recorded the CD at the Berno Studio. I’ve heard that name quite a few times, is it also located in Stockholm?

Kaamos:

Berno studio is located in Malmö, in the Southern parts of Sweden. Quite a lot of bands have recorded there and it’s well known, at least here in Sweden. We chose Berno because of the fact that he had the possibility to record analogy which we prefer. Most studios that are around these days are into digital recording, you know.

Necromaniac:

The album was again released by Candlelight, you little hypocrite! When we met you really bitched loudly about how shitty everything was working out with these gay Britons and that you’re gonna kick their ass if ever these chips-eating homos should cross your way. No, seriously … back then you said that things weren’t working out too well, cause you were just a small band working for a big label and that after the first CD was released, there was hardly any contact between you and Candlelight. Are things going better for you now or did you just bluntly fulfill your contract?

Kaamos:

Hmm...Well we haven’t had any bigger arguments with Candlelight, but some things can be pretty annoying from time to time. But hey, It’s a record company right? I don´t know about the future, time shall tell.

Necromaniac:

I was kinda surprised to see that your former all time cover artist was no longer responsible for the new cover or am I wrong in this?

Kaamos:

You are wrong, Lassie. Dauthus is in charge of the cover and lay-out, as always.

Necromaniac:

By the way what the hell did you do to that little Greek guy Anastasis of NUCLEAR WINTER PROD., he seems to really love you. At least he has now released a 10” vinyl version of your old demo “Curse of Aeons” and also the sin of your youth, i.e. the REVOCATION demo was pressed on 7” vinyl. How did you manage to convince the Greek? I haven’t gotten myself that 10” yet, aside from the demo stuff, does it include any bonus material?

Kaamos:

Anastasis is a huge fan of KAAMOS and has been so since the very beginning, we even discussed this 10" release back in 2001 but for some reasons that I can’t recall it didn’t happen until now. There is no bonus material added on the vinyl release. Personally I don’t like that kind of cheap marketing. And yeah, Anastasis released Revokation as well.

Necromaniac:

How many copies of this demo were sold back then? Did you keep record of that?

Kaamos:

About a thousand I think.

Necromaniac:

I have another one of your early sins here … an issue of the Outshitten Cunt Zine, which you were responsible for at the end of the 90’s together with Tobias of REPUGNANT and Erik of MAZE OF TORMENT. Why the hell are you Swedish people so damn lazy and never manage to bring things to an end? I don’t think there ever was a second issue, was there? If so, that definitely was the last one, right? Why didn’t you continue with the zine, it was really great and featured some cool bands! Don’t give me any of that bullshit about no time and no money, I don’t have any either and keep on going anyway...

Kaamos:

Yeah, you’re right there was only one issue of Outshitten Cunt. I don’t know why really...lazy? Yeah, maybe...And yes, issue number two will most likely not see the light of day. We never had any real plan with O.C. we just wanted to do the zine that we wanted to read, and interview the bands we wanted to read about.

Necromaniac:

You’re only freetime rockstars anyway, meaning that KAAMOS doesn’t leave any profit. Can you go touring anyway (assuming your jobs allow it). The tour offers you get from Candlelight most likely aren’t that good, I can hardly imagine that you want to pay € 2000 per day just for their tour support … what package is it, Karl dreams of at night? KAAMOS, MORBID ANGEL, SADISTIC INTENT on tour in Mexico or would you rather play the opener show for SLAYER? Knowing you (well, I’ve only talked to you in person once, but after all we almost fucked each other like two stoned psychos on a school trip) you’d probably rather do some shows with ABBA.

Kaamos:

Candlelight has not been involved in any of the gigs that we’ve done so far. MORBID ANGEL and SADISTIC INTENT? Sounds good to me. If we can play with OLD Slayer I'll go for that one.

Necromaniac:

Have Johan and Tobias (REPUGNANT – RIP) beaten the shit out of you by now? Especially for snatching away their old drummer Chris Piss? What ever happened to your old drummer Thomas?

Kaamos:

Hm. I don’t think that will happen. We didn’t "snatch" Chris. He actually called me up when he heard that Thomas quit KAAMOS and offered his services. Thomas is still a drummer but he is not a part of the Death Metal scene anymore,

Necromaniac:

Well Karl, to be honest, I can’t think of anything else to ask you, since really I think KAAMOS sucks, I just have to do this interview for image reasons (I could think of a thousand other questions worth asking IN FLAMES for example). Really this doesn’t result in anything intelligent anyway right now, but thinking about all those male groupies makes me go on with the magazine. Also I need this for my ego, integrating myself in almost every second question gives me the recognition nothing else in life can give me. I’m such a poor motherfucker! Whenever I can’t think of any further questions I take them from other zines. So here is the typical question always asked by the UNHOLY TERROR guys: Give me your definition of Death Metal!

Kaamos:

KAAMOS.

Necromaniac:

Okay Karl, that’s about it for now, my battery is running low! There is one last question. What’s gonna happen with KAAMOS in the future? Will a third CD be released by Candlelight in 2007? Thanx a lot for taking some time for the anglers’ professional journal called NECROMANIAC. It would be great if you could sum it up by stating your present Top Ten …

Kaamos:

KAAMOS will continue to spread darkness and heresy and smile while doing it. As I said in question no. 8, we will see about the future. Top ten? No, but I can tell you that I like Necros Christos.
